Christina Hueschen
PI
Ph.D. Biomedical Sciences (Cell Biophysics), UCSF
Christina is all about: motility and other mechanical processes in biology, the physics-biology interface, backpacking, dance, dessert.

Brigette Monroy
Project Scientist
Ph.D. Biochemistry, Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology, UC Davis
Brigette is interested in understanding the various aspects of the cytoskeleton and how they contribute to cell motility. In her free time she enjoys going to Disneyland with her family, hiking, or relaxing at the beach.

Kevin Hendargo
PhD Rotation Student (R1 Fall ’24), Biological Sciences
M.S. Biology, UCSD
Kevin is interested in structural biology with an emphasis on membrane mechanics, motor protein activity surfaced by transmembrane proteins, and methods for capturing them in real time. He also loves phonology, raising vegetables, and cycling.

Mia Syme
PhD Student, Physics
B.S./B.A. Physics and Math, Claremont McKenna College
Mia is interested in the evolution and shape change of biological systems, and applying machine learning to these areas. Outside the lab, she enjoys running, ocean swimming, and spending time with her cat Sunny.

Shahd Sidahmed
Undergraduate Researcher
Shahd is interested in how cytoskeletal dynamics and nuclear mechanics influence parasite motility and invasion. Outside the lab, she enjoys going to the beach, spending time with friends, and trying new foods!

Hannah Lewack
PhD Rotation Student (R2 Fall ’24), Biological Sciences
B.S. Biology (Minor: Chinese), U. of Oregon
Hannah received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon, where she studied biology and Chinese. She is interested in the mechanisms through which parasites invade their hosts. In her free time she enjoys running, swimming, and baking.

Bolan Peng
Researcher / Lab Hero
B.S. Biochemistry, U. of Washington
Bolan is interested in many different research topics and techniques. He loves microbiology and biochemistry, eating, stargazing, and traveling.

Jun Ahn
Undergraduate Researcher
Jun is interested in learning how cells move through physical and mathematical expressions. In his free time he likes walk his turtle or find new albums to try.

Ryan Stoner
PhD Rotation Student (R2 Fall ’24), Biological Sciences
B.S. Biochemistry, U. of Colorado Boulder
Ryan did his undergrad in Colorado, and is interested in structural biology and protein biochemistry. Outside the lab he enjoys hiking, running, and going to the beach.

Bear
Lab Mascot
Bear is all about: the beach, old friends, new friends, fleeing in terror from cardboard boxes and bathtubs, being with people at all times.
